Just when you thought two things: (1) That all the television stations already had their own dance-theme shows; and (2) that Paula Abdul had given up on making a comeback, you get the news that both of them are wrong, wrong, wrong.
The announcement is coming today, more than likely on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, that Paula Abdul is going to be a judge on the upcoming "Got to Dance" on CBS. Clever name don't you think? Almost as clever as "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars." I see a theme here. No longer will television audiences be able to turn to their loved ones and say "well what say we watch that dance show tonight, without receiving a "huh?"
Paula seems to harbor no ill will against Ellen, or Simon or that low-down dirty rotten Kara DioGuardi. (Randy Jackson was unavailable to appear in this spoof). Paula is on some good drugs that allows her to accept and love every person in her life, even the ones who tried to destroy her career and made her feel like a has-been. But she's showing them all with the new generic dance show "Got to Dance." Gotta love it or maybe not. Perhaps a better fit for Paula might have been "Gotta Get Offa Da Sauce," but then again she wouldn't be prime time, she'd just be cable going up against Kate and her Eight, and really, that's no contest at all.
