News emerging from Southeast Asia this morning is that nobody at all has ever heard of the American person Taylor Swift, the individual so relentlessly written about on satirical news website TheSpoof.com.
Locals in Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Korea (South) all shrugged their shoulders when 'Taylor Swift' was mentioned.
Swift's name raised confused eyebrows when we mentioned it around Bangkok this morning, and several people guessed that she was either a popstar, sports star, model or bimbo, but nobody knew for sure. Or cared.
Swift, age unknown, has appeared regularly in the site's 'Best Rated' column, and has also had her name mentioned in the 'Most Popular' table as well. It's not known how the poor, unfortunate souls in this part of the world could have completely missed the emergance of this 'star'.
Thailand resident Moys Kenwood told us:
"Taylor Swift? Never heard of her, but there are plenty of swift tailors roundabouts, who can hammer you a suit together in around 7 hours!"
