Avatar, the James Cameron movie with lots of special effects and very little story, acting, or plot, has become the second largest grossing movie of all time in just twenty days of release.
Projections are that it will shatter the record and claim the number one spot before the end of February. The film passed The Lord of the Rings; Return of the King to claim the new position with $1.137 billion in ticket revenues.
This gives director James Cameron the top two films in world wide gross: Titanic and Avatar.
Cameron, however, is worried that his success will not last for long. "I'm looking at the other films out there and think that Alvin and the Chipmunks 2; The Squeakquel has a real shot at blowing us away. If that doesn't do it, then The Evidence Is Out There And Is Not Circumstantial That I Still Categorically Cannot Deny That I Know What You Did A Summer Six Years Ago As It Is Fresh In My Mind (a.k.a. I Know What You Did Last Summer 6) is sure to break all of the box office records."
"You are never safe in the number one spot in this town, because there's always another big movie out there that can beat you."
