It was movie night on the X-Factor, and Louis Walsh played his ace in the hole for Irish twins Jedward - John And Edward Grimes, by getting them to perform a pantomime version of the old Ray Parker Junior classic 'Ghostbusters.'
Surprisingly the judges were kind, or at least kinder than the audience who booed and jeered throughout this most bizarre of performances.
Clutching plastic toy guns and wearing industrial eye protection, the lads started out a little off key, but, they proceeded to get steadily worse.
Even as some manic dancer with arm stilts lurched across the stage and some bird who looked like a shredded toilet roll, but who was presumably supposed to have been a ghost, went floating aimlessly about the studio on a wire.
Not even Louis Walsh's mysteriously inspired enthusiasm, coupled with the other judges' generosity could swing the audience, who were in no mood for sweet talk or kid gloves.
It became painfully obvious to cynics and fans alike that, sweet as they may be, Jedward can't sing for shit, and they are really, really crap dancers.
Somewhat embarrassingly, in front of a baying studio audience, and millions of squirming TV viewers, Jedward were well and truly 'GhostBUSTED!"
More X-rated X-Factor malarkey as we get it.
