Rumour has it that boyband 'Boyzone' are to approach flat cap obsessive AC/DC singer Brian Johnson with a view to him replacing recently deceased singer Stephen Gately in the band's line-up.
A spokesman for Boyzone said that 62 year old rocker, Johnson, was the obvious choice for the 'gig'.
"He is vibrant, athletic, handsome and has the kind of smooth, sexy, come to bed voice that young girls adore. He will be perfect as a replacement for Stephen, God bless him."
Johnson was not available for comment last night, but a representative of his record label said. "I think I can speak for Brian when I say that Boyzone are barking up the wrong tree. If they think that one of the world's most successful rock gods would demean himself by joining forces with a bunch of lightweight crooners like Boyzone, then they are deluded in the extreme. Brian has indicated a desire to retire from the music business as soon as the present tour is completed, anyway, and will be spending his retirement in his favourite hobbies of supping Newcastle Broon Ale and whippet fettling.
Exclusive - I can reveal that as of today, Brian Johnson, late of AC/DC, will be Stephen Gately's replacement in boyband Boyzone. Just goes to show, doesn't it?
