It was confirmed today that The Simpsons, Americas longest serving sitcom would return for a record breaking 21st season next fall. News that is sure to baffle the few people still keeping faith in the tepid outpourings of a stale collective imagination.
The overall feeling in the writers room this morning was one of shame and if the eyes of those writers were visible behind their multi-thousand dollar sunglasses I'm sure you would find tears in them.
There was a brief high this afternoon however, when a suggestion came from one corner of the office for a story that would see once loved Homer Simpson become a snow plow driver only for that bubble of excitement to be popped once it was pointed out that the idea had been done, a long long time ago.
The meeting continued for a further 3 hours with the silence broken only by the delivery of sushi.
