London - (Rioters): The launch date for Kate Moss's new signature perfume L'Air du Moss has been postponed indefinitely after fragrance industry complaints that it "smells exactly like cocaine".
The publicity blurb for the scent had promised "heady rose musk overtones, underpinned by gardenia, jasmine, ylang ylang and a host of oriental spices so typical of the lovely Kate - including a sensastional secret ingredient guaranteed to drive men wild!"
But market research conducted on London's Oxford Street found that nine out of ten women thought it smelled of cocaine and looked suspiciously like a urine sample in a posh bottle.
Moss was said to be devastated at the news today.
Manufacturers Coty said that it would be back to the drawing board amid reports that a mix-up in the 'secret ingredient' stage of blending is at the heart of the problem.
Trade secrets bar the publication of sensitive commerical information. But very reliable sources in the perfume trade have said that it was a pheromone that was supposed to provide that "WOW!" factor guaranteed to make Moss's scent sell like the proverbial hot cakes.
"Unfortunately, it was Pete Doherty's pheromones that ended up in the mixing vat and not Kate's!" a fragrance scientist confided today.
"No wonder all those women thought it was a turn-off!"
