San Diego, California - Sporting go-go boots, mini skirt and hair, Britney returned to the stage at The House of Blues for a brief concert before a handful of devoted fans in San Diego yesterday. It was her first concert in three years since rehab and two kids. Concertgoers were treated to a short three-song set from her repertoire; including her infamous hit 'Toxic,' which gave the crowd a collective pause, striking them into dumb silence.
"No body knew how to react when she started singing it," said one Britney fan. "A couple of people kept yelling and screaming at first, but then they realized the irony and were overcome with silence too."
After the song, Britney was not met with the customary applause from the audience but dead silence, broken up with the occasional dry cough and the nervous clearing of the throat from the crowd.
A spokesman for Britney said she'd be dropping the 'Toxic' song from her comeback tour for now.
