LOS ANGELES - Actor and comedian Seth McFarlane announced he will no longer voice the character of Peter Griffin, an overweight, white man on Fox’s Family Guy cartoon series.

"At the start of the show, I reasoned with myself that it was permissible for me to play 'Peter', because he is Male and White — as am I," wrote McFarlane in an Instagram post, Wednesday. "But 'Peter' is also Obese, and Obese characters on an animated show should be played by Obese people."

McFarlane said that, as a white non-obese man playing a white obese man, she "was engaging in an act of erasure of Overweight people", as he tried to only focus on the character's white history when justifying why she could play the role.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
