Eric Clapton announced today that he would be joining the Circle City Horns of Corona, CA for a 2015 album and world wide tour. The world renowned Circle City Horns were formerly fronted by founder/guitarist/vocalist and arranger Griff Hamlin, as Griff Hamlin and the Circle City Horns.
It is questionable at this time what Hamlin's role will be in the new group. It is likely that Clapton will take over the lead guitar role, but with Hamlin's chops, it would be foolish to assume he would not continue to be a major force in the six string section of the band he founded. It is also widely believed Hamlin's chops are a major reason for the move by Clapton. Both Hamlin and Clapton were unavailable for comment.
I guess we will see what is to be in the weeks to come but one thing is for certain, The Blues are alive and well in Corona CA.
