Insults were flying thick and fast on the set of Wonga.com today as directors Betty, Joyce and Earl were recording their latest advertisement.
"Things were getting very heated between Betty and Joyce" said an insider who wished to remain anonymous "At one point there was a distinct smell of burning rubber in the air".
The bad feeling seems to stem from the filming of the birthday ad a few months ago. Betty, who has lived with Earl since 1970 claimed that in rehearsals the old prankster jumped out of her birthday cake in his birthday suit and the twinkle she saw in Joyce's eye and the look that passed between her and Earl led her to believe it wasn't the first time Joyce had seen him "eau naturelle".
Betty said "Of course me and the film crew had a good old laugh when he jumped starkers from the cake but then I got concerned for Joyce's ticker because I don't think she has had a man since the blackouts during the war. However, I couldn't have been more wrong as it happened. She was laughing harder than all of us at seeing Earl's dangly bits playing Russian Roulette with the candles".
Things have got so bad between the 2 ladies that they no longer even share knitting patterns.
When asked if there was any truth in the rumours about her and Earl, Joyce would neither confirm or deny.
Earl, who is descended from the Spencer Tracy acting dynasty and spent a large part of his formative years on Tracy island - was true to form and remained silent.
