Everyone agrees that the past couple of years have been a terrible drain on the collective American psyche. At least the collective American psyche that has had to contend with high unemployment rates, low housing prices, a tightening credit market and higher prices in just about every commodity market.
But news from Ferrari are overshadowing the bad news and putting a new spin on America's economic outlook.
The rich are buying again and buying big (actually, they never really stopped buying, but don't let that stand in the way of this awesome news). Ferrari states that 2010 saw their biggest profits yet, and although a large portion of those profits came from sales to China, the company also boasts a return of the United States market to record levels.
So, you might ask, how does that help the man who has now been out of work for 3 years and has run out of unemployment benefits, or the woman who just found out that she has breast cancer but has no health insurance? It doesn't, but isn't it great to know that someone out there can afford a car that costs upwards of a quarter of a million dollars and then some?
Never before in the history of the United States has it been more fun to live vicariously through the rich. Go on, dream, dream big because news on the real estate market front is that high-end luxury real estate has never been hotter. Can't you just imagine yourself in a multi-million dollar villa with your brand new 2011 Ferrari parked in front?
Now, go on out there and buy those lottery tickets with the change you can scrounge up between the couch cushions and dare to dream, people. Dare to dream!
