For Bernie Ecclestone, "He who laughs last...!"

Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One boss, who is worth an estimated £2billion, was attacked by four men outside his office in Central London last month. However, even before he'd had his four stitches removed, Mr Ecclestone contacted Formula One's official watchmaker and suggested they used pictures of his battered face as part of an advertising campaign."

That's why Bernie Ecclestone is a billionaire. Taking EVERY opportunity and turn it into $$$$. Using the tag line 'See what people will do for a watch' the advert shows the injury done to Mr Ecclestone during the attack and a large picture of a watch similar to the personalised one, worth £200,000, that was stolen from him.

For some though, they think that as a personal joke that helps Ecclestone to laugh off what happened to him, it may work and he should just have a poster made up just for himself to hang in his office. However, as a genuine advertisement for watches, some think it's a disaster:

    "This is all wrong in so many ways! It should read, See what Bernie will do for money'!"

    "Quite tasteless, but I have to say, he's turned an awful situation into a profitable one without selling it to a glossy mag, unlike most. Good on him."

    "200k for a watch ! You got to be tapped in the head to buy that let alone parade it on your wrist around london!"

    "A tasteless watch, Mr Ecclesstone is the ideal "celeb to show it off."

Some of these comments may be quite harsh, but for Bernie Ecclestone;

    "He who laughs last...!"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
