The 33 miners trapped in a Chilean copper and gold mine for almost ten weeks, are to feature in semi-nude, provocative poses in the Daily Star newspaper, readers have been told.
This comes after the tabloid comic published a story in its Monday edition that was taken straight from the pages of satirical news website TheSpoof.com. The story - a complete fabrication - announced that the San Jose mine was to be turned into a theme park.
Now, it seems, the miners themselves are to be thrust once more into the international spotlight, after Daily Star readers wrote to the paper in droves to ask for more interesting pictures of their newly-freed 'heroes from the underground'.
Chilean Health Minister Jaime Manalich told reporters:
"As soon as all 33 are released from hospital, they'll be posing in their underpants for a British comic."
