To help in this struggling economy, the U.S. congress has passed a new stimulus project. They set aside a special day of the year in which every penny would suddenly be worth a dollar.
"We couldn't believe the success of this program", said one senator, "business was just booming. Markets were alive!"
"It was wonderful," said a customer, "I had all sorts of change saved up in this big jar. And when I learned that 1 cent would be worth a dollar today, I went and bought a really nice Jaguar. And heck, with just a little bit of pocket change I could fill it up too."
All of this joy would soon be overshadowed by one realization. The following day, the people who got the pennies felt they got a raw deal.
