WASHINGTON (FMLiveWire) - US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke today announced that they have contracted with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to print inflationary American dollars.

"Those Zimbabweans sure know how to print big bills," said Paulson as he admired the 10 million dollar Zimbabwe bills that he displayed in his hand. "They are now printing identical dollars for the USA and each one will buy you a McDonald's burger if you hurry before its price rises."

"Helicopter Ben" Bernanke has long advocated such a scheme of freely printing currency as Zimbabwe and Weimar Germany have done, even though the hyperinflation rate of over 200,000% that results requires some getting used to.

"It is only through hyperinflation that we can solve the US financial crisis that has infected the Western world and pay our debts," explained Bernanke. "Since the Fed is accepting worthless bonds from banks and even crooked Wall Street investment houses, these new high-denomination dollars will re-inflate our financial system and get things moving again."

Bernanke and Paulsen then tossed handfuls of the new 10 million US dollar bills to the assembled reporters who eagerly grabbed them and ran off to spend them at McDonalds, Taco Bell and other fast food outlets.
