Montecito, California (Journal Staff Writer) - Sister Cities International (a nonprofit organization that fosters relationships between communities around the world) has announced that one of the poorest cities in the world, the Bolivian city of PotosÃ, has been paired with one of the wealthiest communities in the US -- Montecito, California (where median real estate prices exceed Manhattan and San Francisco).
"I met with the 'Mayor' of Potosà and let me tell you, he is just adorable!" said local celebutante Kitty Rich. "And I love his hat! It's such an absolute hoot, don't you think? I think it looks darling!"
Home to such celebrities as Oprah Winfrey, John Cleese, Steven Spielberg, Kevin Costner, Kirk Douglas and numerous others, Montecito is also home to the somewhat contentious private oceanfront club, the Coral Casino.
To the dismay of Ms. Rich and other local residents, Billionaire Ty Warner immediately vowed to employ as many of the Bolivians at the upscale club as he possibly could. He cited the fact that he thinks they are 'cute' as well. And he intends to make a beanie baby that looks like them named 'Bautista the Bolivian Beggar'.
