Bristol - (Rioters): A former student has managed to get himself a £500,000 National Lottery handout to develop re-cyclable cardboard tents for use at times of national emergency such as a flood or earthquake striking the Glastonbury Festival or Womad.

James Dunlop, 23, discovered it was a lot cheaper and lighter to sleep in a cardboard box after some research among the down and outs by London's Waterloo Station which has been nicknamed Cardboard Shitty.

The cardboard tents can be put to a variety of uses after just one disaster relief effort. Top of the list is re-packaging them as UN shelters for foreigners. Or drying them out first before reusing them as kindling when the nights start drawing in and the temperature drops. Alternatively they can be saved up for Bon Fire Night.

The waterproof shelters, called Myhab, have won an award at the annual Terence Conartist Exhibitionists Show after Mr Dunlop graduated from his product design degree last year.

Asked how the £500,000 grant might affect his entrepreneurial plans in the future Dunlop said: "Dunno, sod the cardboard boxes, I'm off to Colombia to do some entrepreneurial research into the import/export game. Ta-ra."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
