As the world recession deepens there is even worse news; toilet rolls are running low and in some places there's only a year or two of supplies left. Manufacturers are working hard to find an alternative but so far, they've come up with nothing.
"The situation is getting serious," Gary Lootanant, head of toilet roll research at one of the big companies said. "Not enough people are recycling and the world is running out of paper."
There may be panic buying in some countries with even the rough cheap toilet paper selling out.
Fast food outlets are reporting customers taking paper towels with them and say there is nothing they can do about it thus adding to the problem.
"Maybe restrict people to two rolls a week and work on a voucher system. The problem is the vouchers may be sold to the people with more money," another worker at toilet roll research said.
