In December 2010, I dismissed "utterly false" rumours about my friendship with Mr Myers who worked as my special ­adviser at the Foreign Office.

But I did admit we "occasionally shared twin hotel rooms" to save money!

Just ask my other personal assistants, Jeremy, Dominique, Lucien, Angelico, Nigella, Julian, and Abdullah… they will tell you nothing untoward happened on these occasions.

And let's put these rumours to bed!
