Over the last month, Prescott has returned to politics with gusto. Last week he referred to the House of Lords as a 'bit like a job centre, you have to go down there to get paid expenses, and it just gets totally tiring'. He should know. The old bruiser has claimed £40,950 in expenses from the Upper House in the past year alone.

This was after it was revealed that he had falsely accused the Government of smearing him over Whitehall credit-card spending in his department when he was minister - the cash spent included thousands of pounds on top-end meals as well as trips to the casino.

Now Prezza is demanding taxpayers' cash to pay for candidates' mailshots, including his own, in the police commissioner elections because no one seems to be interested in the campaign.

If, as expected, he does become a police commissioner, the gravy train will just keep on rolling for Baron Prescott of Kingston upon Hull.

God they must be so jealous... He he he!
