I recall making the following statements a while ago, before I bacame a Lord:

"I'm against too much flunkery and titles!" I told the Scotsman"

"I don't want to be a member of the House of Lords. I will not accept it!" I told the Telegraph

Well... It means a man who began his career as a cruise ship steward, but acquired a taste for the high life in government - including playing croquet - has now added ermine to my wardrobe!

Bet it makes some think I have no morals... and very jealous too. Ha ha!
