John Prescott - My Fake Diary

Most peers do not receive a salary but are paid a 'no questions asked' tax-free allowance of £300 a day to cover the cost of attending the Lords.

The system was introduced in 2010 to replace the scandal-hit expenses regime. The House of Lords catering service receive a state subsidy of £1.45m last year, against cafeteria takings of £1.34m and banqueting and gift shop receipts of £2.84m.

And still I have to pay £2.25 for a bottle of Merlot! Not good enough!

Mind you, I expected to earn £159,000 a year in pay and pension contributions if I become the first police and crime boss for Humberside!
