I have given my backing to Chuka Umunna the shadow business secretary after he admitted in an interview to smoking marijuana as a teenager.

I insisted that "everybody" was entitled to a youthful past before they entered public life, adding that 33-year-old Mr Umunna is doing a "Good job".

"I think everybody is entitled to a past, and a youthful past if you like, before they go into public life and become corrupt!"

Oh.. that came out wrong... well right in the truthful sense, but not what I meant to say!
