image for President Bush Signs Universal Health Care Bill
Bush assures elderly woman that she will have proper health care coverage

After viewing the Michael Moore film Sicko, President Bush presented legislation before Congress authorizing Universal Health Insurance coverage for all Americans regardless of income or ability to pay.

"Michael Moore's depiction of the health care in America has opened my eyes to the injustice the poor and elderly face in this country", Bush said at a press conference. "From now on no American should not be forced to suffer or die because of a lack of ability to pay for quality medical care".

Bush's statement sent shockwave throughout the Republican Party and the health care industry.

"The man is insane", said American Medical Association spokesperson Ira Francois. "Doctors have to pay $200,000 a year in malpractice insurance alone. Then they have to make at least $200,000 a year salary. If we start treating all those old, sick, poor people the entire industry will collapse!"

Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain said this weekend that he is also working on a health care reform proposal but it does not include the poor or the elderly.

Michael Moore expressed surprise at Bush's statement. "I don't believe him. He's lying", Moore stated.

Senator Hillary Clinton also expressed skepticism. "He's too stupid to even think of that".

Democratic nad Republican Senators were busily drafting a bill to be presented before Congress to fulfill Bush's vision.

However, later that same day, Bush said he was only kidding.
