HOWL-E-WOOD - The American Film Institute has unveiled this year's selections for the Greatest American Movies of the past one-hundred years.

This year's surprise choice for #1 is 'The Blair Witch Project' (in an apparent sea change of opinion among filmmakers, actors, writers, critics and others in this typically self-congratulatory town). The 1999 low budget independent horror film surged past 'Citizen Kane', the previous perennial #1 pick.

Said one AFI voter, "It blew me away. I can never look at film making the same way again."

To the disappointment of vapid sycophants throughout Tinseltown, 'Shrek' and 'Spider Man' did not even crack the top one-thousand.

Conspicuously absent from the mix of choices on the ballot were films from Central America and South America.
