Good grief! 42! Wife and kids.

Must have been deeply troubled.

Very sad news.

Top player. And he was doing a decent job as Wales manager.

Very sad news!

No, suicide is a bad thing, and anyone who does it should be shot.

Said today on Sky Sports from Anfield that he died 'suddenly.'

Doesn't get much more sudden than hanging yourself.

Only saw him on the telly yesterday.

Tragic, yes. Big question is 'Why?'

RIP Gary

Terrible. What must his family be going through?

Hidden depths and all that.

Talking's the answer. Or is it?

Did I sound flippant there?

Honestly didn't intend to. It just makes you wonder how bad things were in his mind to drive him to such an extreme. His family must be devastated.

Such a sad scenario - and there but for the grace of God go I...and many others.

Sounds trite, but God bless.

Tragedy whichever way you look at it.

Skoob.

Another of life's fuckin' terrible, awful tragedies..

Unimaginably sad.. Poor bleedin' kids..

But that's the trouble with tragedy..

It's far too bloody easy...

compared to comedy..

The inner torment that drives people to this action, will perhaps never be fully realised or understood.

So very sad.

I hated Gary when he was at Leeds, he was so damn good and gave United horrors everytime they played each other. It's obvious there was something troubling the man and felt it was the only way out.

Everything always looks hunky-dory when one observes a top pro-sportsman's life, but they are just people and it matters not which lifestyle they lead. The chance of getting caught up in a depression remains the same for them. Shame, a superb ambassador for the game and there's not many of them left.

My missus, a girl so intellectually impoverished as to make a Big Brother housemate sound only mildly dense, remarked upon hearing the undoubtedly tragic news..."I bet it was some kind of kinky sex game that went tits up and that whoever found him has hidden the oranges so that the troof(sic) will never come out!"

Fortunately she's an absolute tiger in bed and makes an excellent macaroni cheese.

She could well be right, who knows? There's always a motive for every act.

Enjoy the macca
