Robert De Niro enters Chilean Mine

Chile, South America: Joyous families greeted the thirty-three men released from a Chilean mine today, but even as they were being freed, the winched cage used to lift them from the darken tomb where they had been trapped for the last two months was used to lower method actor Robert De Niro into the mine.

Taxi Driver star De Niro has stated his intention to appear in a Hollywood retelling of the events, and plans to remain in the mine for a period of two months in order to prepare for the role.

In the past the Analyse This star rose violently to the head of a crime organisation to prepare for his role in The Godfather 2, and also spent six months being hand drawn in preparation for Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Oscar winner Javier Bardem, also tipped to appear in the movie adaptation of the miners' story, has declined to join De Niro stating that he would be "acting" instead.
