Making French-Canadian headlines followed by spill over to the world press, Alex Trebek, Long standing host of the popular Jeopardy game show, was banned from a five star restaurant in Montreal this week.
Patrons at the same restaurant claim that while Trebek was simply being Trebek, the wait staff at the wildly popular "Cochon Rouge", took exception to Trebek's comments and forced the management to toss him and his lovely wife to the street, permanently.
Jean Baptiste Waternouse, who sat next to Trebek's table told reporters, "At first the waiter offered a wine suggestion for the evening, but Alex responded by demanding that he respond in the form of a question". Apparently unable to un-plug from the Jeopardy show format, the contentious verbal exchanges continued.
When discussing the menu, Trebek reportedly asked for the "Evenings Categories", whereby the waiter didn't know how to respond. When discussing the specials for the evening, Trebek stopped the waiter to correct him. "Oh, no, I'm sorry, the correct answer is; a Coq au Vin on a bed of Mirepois, Eau de vie deFrambois sauce, a la Provencale."
"That was when the waiter lost his temper", says Waternouse. Trebek and his wife were escorted to the door by the manager whose apparent Final Jeopardy answer was, "obtenez la baise dehors", or loosely translated, "Get the f#@< out".
