AVRIL Lavigne has admitted her divorce from her rock musician husband Deryck Whibley was inev8ble.
The singer, 24, wrote on her website blog that she and Whibley, 29, lead singer of Sum 41, were "separ8ing and moving forward on a positive note".
"I am gr8ful for our time together and I am gr8ful and blessed for our remaining friendship," she added.
The couple, who both grew up in Ontario, Canada, started dating in early 2004 and married in July 2006.
The singer, whose hits include Sk8er Boi and Complicated, wrote on her website: "I admire Deryck and have a gr8 amount of respect for him."
But Whibley didn't mince words over his reasons for the divorce.
He said, "Her use of the number 8 started to gr8 on me."
