The US Army's wig supply scandal reached crisis point last night when it was revealed General David Petraeus had to borrow a synthetic toupee from an Iraqi hairpiece fabricator.
General Petraeus usually wears a finely crafted wig created by a colonel qualified in barbery from the army's Scalp Replenishment and Camouflage Corps.
But a traumatic failure of this year's Eastern European hair crop caused by an exceptionally mild spring has left the Raw Hair Logistical Corps scratching their heads.
'It is true we do have a shortage of quality wigs at the moment which may have led to the less than satisfactory appearance of General Petraeus recently,' admitted Captain Pervical Harris of RHLC.
The wig crisis led to a break down in US/Pakistan relations recently when General Musharraf could not be supplied by the SRCC and had to make do with locally woven toupee fashioned from horse hair.
