ZURICH (Reuterz) - After months of calculation and endless nights of computer tallying a list of architectural achievement of the NEW millennium has been chosen. Many grand and beautiful buildings and monuments known to man were in the running the world over.
"Many hundreds of millions of text messages have been coming in 24/7 for several months". said pollster John Zogby, who runs the polling organization Zogby International.
This Global voting's final results was scheduled to be unveiled in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7th, but, because of the dangers of hacking the numbers was a real threat, It was always the plan to stop the voting when it did. It would of been a real embarrassment if manipulation of any kind would of taken hold giving a misreading in the numbers.
The first original list compiled by the Greeks and included sites around the Mediterranean, The Lighthouse of Alexandria, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Pyramids of Giza to name a few.
Here are some of the other four leading candidates for the new list who came close. They were the Incan city Machu Picchu in Peru, the desert city of Petra in Jordan, Easter Island's mysterious statues and India's Taj Mahal. All close, but, no cigar!
Neither will you find: the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Statue of Liberty in New York, Britain's Stonehenge or Moscow's Kremlin.
