Oakland, Iowa- Rose Brogan a local resident of Oakland, Iowa clams she found God in her basement. Brogan 87, said it all started when a group of Mormon missionaries knocked on her door.
"They really gave me the riot act, then told me I need to find God soon before it's too late." said Brogan.
"I was really scared, I looked every where I could think of. The attic, trunk, bathroom. I almost gave up looking and accepted my everlasting fate, then I forgot to look in the basement". Brogan's basement was the problem. "stuff was stacked everywhere" Brogan was a accumulator. "There was so much stuff down there I had no idea where to look."
Then out of the far right corner of the basement she spotted a Folgers Coffee can. "Was it Folgers classic gold?" I asked in a phone interview.
"I'm not really sure."
I asked her if she could find out. She told me that the can was in the second story bedroom and that she misplaced her walker. I told her that this interview was going no where and that she needed to find out or I was going to end the interview.
I waited for what seemed like twenty-five minutes. When she picked up the phone she was breathing heavy "Oh, ah, ok I found the can. It says Folgers classic black."
"That's it's? just black? Check around the back of the can."
"Nope." she said. "Just black."
"Ok, fine. Just finish the dam story lady."
She told me that when she saw the can she knew she found what she was looking for.
"The can had no rust, it looked brand new. I opened the lid and behold, there he was"
"What did he look like?" I ask.
"I'm I going to get paid for this interview?"
"Ah. You'll have to talk to management about that."
"Oh."
"Come on old lady! Good God. Finish the story."
"Well that's just it." She said. "As soon as I found him I lost him again."
"Waite. What do you mean you lost him, it's God. All mighty all seeing, all knowing. Where could he be?"
"Maybe a cigar box?"
I then ended the interview.
