In a statement released to the media late last night, the Office of the President-Elect Barack Obama claimed that he was actually born in Kenya.
"It's true", said an Obama spokesman. "Barack actually WAS born in Kenya. We had thought it was Hawaii, but when we really looked at those childhood photos, we saw an acacia tree."
When told that acacia trees were also native to Hawaii, Alvaro was firm. "No, this was a Kenyan acacia. Barack Obama is actually a Kenyan national. And, as you know, it is not permitted for foreign-born nationals to serve as President of the United States, so, I guess it has to go to McCain."
Senator McCain responded by saying, "Nice try, Barack. But I'm not going for it. I've has some time to really look at things, and there is NO WAY I would take this job. So, good luck, you poor slob."
Bush spokeswoman Dana Perrino questioned the legality of the requirement that the President must be native-born. "That's a bit archaic, no? I mean, why should an obviously qualified candidate be barred from serving as President?"
President Bush has vowed to take a good look at the matter and take action, if necessary.
