In a surprising move, Gene Simmons, bassist and vocalist of the heavy metal band KISS, announced that talk show legend Larry King will become the fifth member of the group. The band, which recorded its first album in 1974, has, to date, consisted of only four members. According to Simmons, Larry King will play keyboards, as well as backing vocals and some lead vocals.

"We are delighted to welcome Larry aboard", said drummer Peter Criss. "I never knew that he was a musician, but I'm here to tell you that the old man can definitely rock." Guitarist and vocalist Paul Stanley said that a decision has not yet been made as to what makeup scheme will characterize King's onstage persona, but stated that King will wear his trademark glasses, tie and suspenders.

The band reportedly plans to begin rehearsals immediately, with plans to complete a new album by the end of the summer. A highlight of the new album is rumored to be a cover of the Steppenwolf tune Born To Be Wild, with Larry King on lead vocals. A world tour will likely follow.
