Trial begins on Monday

New York - Lawyers formerly defending Alaska's Corrupt Bastards Club politicians and their oil industry pimps have been hired to act for New York Assembly leader Sheldon Silver who was arrested on multi-million dollar graft charges this morning.

Arnie Z Snitchman, senior partner at Grubb, Imago & Llarva LLC, will co-lead Silver's defence team against a five-count criminal complaint of taking almost $4million in bribes and kickbacks in a corruption scam dating back to 2000.

The veteran CBC attorney is demanding immediate return of his client's 'hard-earned' $3.8m 'savings' as well as the unfreezing of eight bank accounts that the FBI seized and locked down at today's dawn swoop.

However Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara who brought the charges is having none of it:

"The greedy art of secret self-reward was practiced with particular cleverness and cynicism by Speaker Silver," Bharara told New York Toast reporters this morning as he described how the accused treated the Speaker's office as his personal piggy bank.

Silver faces five charges each carrying up to 20 years behind bars if convicted for claiming 'referral fees' that were nothing more than corrupt bungs.

Associate co-counsel Steven Z Donziger will plead for Silver's Ecuadorian interests described by Amazonbotch plaintiffs as 'introduction fees'.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is 69.
