An uncut diamond found this morning

The meteorite responsible for killing all the dinosaurs may be set to upset the world's diamond markets. Geologists have drilled 1000 feet underneath the British Rock of Gibraltar and found out that it is a whole meteorite which smashed into the earth and dislodged another large rock which later became the moon.

Another colossal chunk of diamond bearing meteor is estimated to have ricocheted into Mount Meredith in the northern Prince Charles Mountains of Antarctica.

These catastrophes caused vegetation to die out on the planet due to the ensuing 50 years of opaque dust clouds. Sensationally the meteors consist largely of kimberlite, a diamond bearing mineral.

Samples were brought to the surface and found to contain large quantities of huge uncut FL and IF grade diamonds weighing in at 2lbs each and more.

Monkeys living on the rock have frequently been seen with diamonds, which were thought to have been stolen from the hundreds of thousands of visitors that the beautiful resort attracts each month. Reports that they have been recently seen driving Ferraris and wearing Sheik's clothing are said to be false.

Estimates of the diamond deposits are put at between 800 and 1000 tons of flawless diamonds.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
