As thousands of US citizens prepared to flee the Middle East today, Governor Mitt Romney tried to "walk back" his comments to Jewish supporters in Jerusalem yesterday.
"I NEVER referred to the Palestinians as Rag Heads. I might have said the words Air Heads, you know, people of lofty ideals and big thoughts."
As members of the media rolled their eyes and shook their heads, Romney continued: "I wouldn't say anything to the Jew Boys, I wouldn't say to anyone else. I too, am a man of lofty ideals and big thoughts. I am as one with my Palestinian brothers. After all, I did help them to start their bank!"
A reporter from the New York Times called out: "Governor, thousands of US citizens are fleeing the Middle East because of your remarks and the fear of reprisals from the Arab world. What do you say to them?"
Romney: "I say to them that is ridiculous! They have nothing to fear but fear itself!"
Reporter: "Then Governor, why are you and you entire entourage dressed as Bedouin tribesman?"
