In a stunning development Friday afternoon, the judge in the John Edwards trial declared a mistrial after John Edwards eloped with three jurors in his misuse of campaign funds litigation.
The government lawyers were furious as Edward's defense team; some of the best legal minds in North Carolina giggled like school girls and grabbed their crotches. One was heard to remark, "Love is a many splendored thing!"
Those attending the trial suspected something was awry when the three jurors arrived in the courtroom, all of them dressed in white wedding dresses and holding bouquets of yellow roses.
As the other jurors gasped and attendees at the trial looked on in shocked amazement, Edwards entered the room, stopped at each of the three jurors seats and whispered something in their ears.
Observers noticed the jurors blushed and looked adoringly at Edwards' hair. The Associated Press reports at that point, jurors #3, 4. And 5 left the jury box and followed the ex-Senator out to a waiting limousine.
Journalists who followed the caravan to the airport looked on as the happy entourage exited the limo at the private jet and were met by Rielle Hunter holding a camcorder.
