Police are trying to trace the 'thing' shown in the attached image and have requested the assistance of the local community to help.
It seems that Mrs. Mary Love from Oxford Green received a phone call late on Friday afternoon from a mysterious stranger telling her that her kitten was in danger of being murdered unless she paid a ransom of £5 and deposited it inside the local phone box.
Luckily the CCTV camera outside the phone box caught a crisp image of the caller.
"Is it a man? Or a moth? We can't really tell. Whatever it was, this thing called Mrs. Love and he is a very dangerous individual", said Sgt. Numpty at a hastily arranged press conference at the local tea rooms.
The Thing's voice was described as hoarse and croaky with a slight West Country burr.
He also had a stammer.
And he sneezed a lot.
And he did a weird click-clicking sound that is native to the indigenous Waabi-Waabi tribe of West Africa.
He probably also smoked a pipe.
Any information should be communicated to the local police.
