A Bishop's claim that ordaining women bishops in the Church Of England will be like a Nazi invasion has received high-level backing.
Bishop of Lewes, the Rt Rev Wallace Benn, later qualified his comments, saying he meant that there were "storm clouds on the horizon" over the ordination of women question.
But the Extraordinarily and Specially Rev Gideon Follicle-Speck, head of the Globally Most Important Anglican Bishops, said: "Oh yeah, I thought Wally was bang on with that.
"It's like this, right? As soon as the first woman bishop is ordained, what you'll see is the Germans and Russians carving up Poland.
"Then there'll be an invasion of France, with the British Expeditionary Force making a desperate rearguard action before managing to get back to Blighty.
"The next stage will be dive-bomber attacks on radar stations around the south coast before hoards of nazi bombers fly over and try to bomb the fuck out of our cities.
"All because we ordained a woman. Is that what we really want? I don't think so."
