The forty year old beech tree, believed to be the son of another beech tree following a romance with a stone was officially named 'Son Of A Beech' at the behest of Councillor Egbert Nomayo, who really enjoys puns and silly plays on words.
Councillor Wayward apparently had a heck of a job trying not to laugh as he cut the ribbon and named the tree 'Son Of A Beech.'
Plans are already afoot to name other trees in the borough with similarly amusing names, like Oaking Wet, Crash Elmet, and Sky Larch.
Critics described such folly as a waste of Council Taxpayer's money.
