The on off saga of Ashley and Cheryl Cole took a dramatic twist yesterday when the couple appeared to split up and get back together a staggering three times in one day.
Local residents in the small village of Oxshott, Surrey are amazed at how volatile the couple's relationship appears to have become over the last few weeks.
Talking to our entertainment correspondent, Margaret Moore who has lived in the area for over 45 years said earlier today : "It is just ridiculous. They really do need to decide what they want to do. At 9:00am Ashley appeared to storm out of the house taking with him a small Adidas bag and a pair of football boots. However after a change a heart he returned at around midday. He had obviously run off his frustrations as his boots were in quite a state".
She continued: "They really are the most unpredictable couple. No sooner had Ashley returned than the pair came out of the house together hugging and kissing. You would honestly believe that nothing was wrong. They took their two dogs out for a long walk and arrived back at their house about an hour and a half later. However within 40 minutes their marriage was on the rocks again as this time Cheryl appeared to rush out carrying only her car keys and her mobile phone. She was very preoccupied and didn't even acknowledge my wave from the side of the road. Just as I had accepted that perhaps we would be having a divorce in the village the Girls Aloud star returned with two Waitrose carrier bags full of shopping. I imagined that she planned to empty these and use them to pack her belongings. However they must have had a serious heart to heart as nothing much happened then for over five hours."
When asked by our reporter whether or not this was the end of the drama Mrs Moore continued: "Not at all. They must have come to the conclusion that Ashley should be the one to leave because at 8:30pm he shot out of the house and drove off at a speed approaching 50 mph which to my mind was unnecessary. Then, just as I was about to go home for the night another twist in the tale. Cheryl had obviously rang Ashley and begged him to return because his car raced around the corner, almost knocking me clean off my feet. And there they were again smooching and canoodling as if nothing had happened. He even had time to bring in an Indian take away and what looked like a Blockbuster DVD. It was the same when Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor lived in Oxshott. I once sat outside their house and counted them separating and getting back together an incredible twenty six times in one weekend. Now that's just not normal"
Mrs Moore has been single since May the 4th 1977 when at 10:45am her husband left the house to buy some milk and never returned.
Ashley and Cheryl Cole were unavailable for comment.
