In a dramatic turn of events early this morning, what was meant to be a peaceful rally by the sock puppet awareness group (SPAG) quickly degenerated into what can only be described as an inner-city riot.
Police officers has been stationed to form a perimiter for "reasons of national security" but it was envisaged that they would be purely a precautionary measure - in fact witnesses claimed that the officers had resorted to playing connect4 and battleships just to pass the time.
Those boardgames toppled like a house of cards when screams were heard at the center of the rally. It has been reported that the rally had been infiltrated by a militant organisation calling itself the "Hands Of Allah" and that previously passive puppets had been supplanted by armed variants.
Teargas was used to disorient the crowds but nevertheless several puppets lost their lives during the terrible scenes of violence.
