Gordon Brown was tricked into making indiscreet remarks about colleagues by Rory Bremner dressed as a donkey, it has been revealed. The Chancellor of the Exchequer was reportedly taken in when Bremner called on him on the day after the last General Election pretending to be Margaret Beckett.
Brown is said to have entered into detailed discussions with the donkey over fellow ministers' pay packets and important decisions such as who should look after the tea and biscuits following the poll victory.
A spokesman for the Treasury said Mr. Brown had no recollection of a conversation with Mrs. Beckett despite the importance of the issues discussed.
Mrs. Beckett is said to be unconcerned about the issue, as she has no time for stupid, tittering comedians, and their jumped up producers.
The man responsible for looking after donkeys at Blackpool pleasure beach, Harry Hat, said it can sometimes happen that one of his donkeys is mistaken for the Foreign Secretary, and whisked away on important official duties before people realise it's not her.
