Without batting an eye, Ted Williams' noggin went 3 for 4 against the Devil Rays today. "I can see beyond being beheaded and otherwise dismembered," Ted's head said after the game.
Fourth in the American League in hitting this season, Williams crouched lower than his neck, as his frozen head--minus his body--swatted another liner to right center.
"It's amazing what a little rest and a lot of cryogenics can do for a hitter like me," Ted said.
The Devil Rays manager complained: "We don't have any pitching, as usual. We need more and better arms. Maybe we need Ted Williams' head?"
Williams also had two assists from left field. Wearing his glove on his head, he poked the ball with his left eye toward the infield, and caught two runners going to third.
"It's extraordinary what a little frozen head can do for ya," Ted's coach suggested. "Gee, I wish I had head like that. With that kind a head, we could go all the way."
