Six mobile phone street urchins in Asia have agreed to use Yahoo's oneSearch mobile search engine.
The street urchins are Helado de Guillermo (Philippines), Puta Puta Swami (India), LG 'wonky leg' Tang (South Korea), Yong Tow Foo (Malaysia), Bahasa Madurese (Indonesia) and Harry Ho (Taiwan). Together, they have made nearly 100 phone calls. Which was surprising because the participants have no friends or family.
"These partnerships with people found on the street in Asia help extend Yahoo's clear leadership in the itinerant street urchin mobile space," said Kuih Pie Tee, vice president and general manager, Every Street Corner Has Life Asia, Yahoo.
No specific financial details of the agreements were revealed, but Yahoo officials did indicate that the itinerant street urchins will receive the Yankee greenback dollar and a bowl of a popular noodle soup with spicy broth made from prawn shells and heads and served with slices of hard-boiled eggs, shredded prawns, water convolvulus, pork, crispy fried shallots and a spoonful of chili paste.
