I am gathering names on a petition here in Ontario, to send to the UK Government in an effort to coax them to change their minds about messing with 'summertime' hours, extra daylight and so on.
I do believe there are other individuals in other Provinces doing the same.
Many ex-pats living here have elderly relatives who have a difficult time as it is, keeping up with the time diffences between the two countries - indeed - Canada is so huge - we have time zones within the country itself.
We expats get woken up at ridiculous hours, for example, I'm often woken up 3:00 a.m. by the my mam thinking it is around l:00 p.m. for us and then she gets upset for waking us, because, no matter how hard you try not to let them know you have just climbed out of bed...they can hear it in your voice.
My mom can never get it straight. She is working hard to learn...but if the Government does start messing with the clocks...just as she is 'getting it' now...this could cause her to suffer another stroke. I do fear for her health.
Politicians just don't understand the damage they can do or problems they can cause by - as they believe - simply moving the pointers on clocks.
I urge them to think again. For my poor mam's sake!
