A British man is in hospital awaiting surgery after being gored by a bull on the third day of Pamplona's famous bull run, officials said. The unidentified 20-year-old needed surgery on the wound in his left thigh which doctors said was serious following the morning bull run, the third run of the nine day festival, which was described as "tense and dangerous"
So reads a headline in the online UK Daily Telegraph today.
What the hell did he expect? Describing the run as "tense and dangerous" is a bit of an understatement.
One wonders what goes through the minds of these drunken sots as they attempt to outrun 'fighting bulls'.
No doubt this young man, when he sobers up, will return to Britain and proudly show off his scars 'down the pub'. He will, no doubt, be hailed as a hero amongst his 'circle of friends' and enjoy many free pints for months to come
If he HAD a job, he will probably now go down the 'dole office' and register as 'disabled' in an attempt to milk the system, like his mates are, probably, already doing.
He'll get a girl pregnant and she'll apply for free housing as a single mother. He'll call in every day to visit but WON'T be living there. Oh no! That's against the law.
It will not be possible to ascertain if he suffered 'brain damage' as a result of his encounter with the bull in Pamplona, because 'runners' - Mozos - are not given an IQ test BEFORE they run.
Well - he'll probably return next year for the Running Of The Bulls, paid for by taxpayers' money.
