Hello to everyone,
This letter is to let you know that Newby Primary School is holding a Jumble Sale two weeks from this Thursday. It is to be held in the school hall and will be in operation from 10.00 am. until 12.00 pm.
We are, through this letter to you, asking for donations for the jumble sale.
The children need some new P.E. equipment and we can't get any more money from the School Board. (Even though members of the School Board are driving around in Mercedes and BMW's - paid for by the Board of Education).
Please put any donations in boxes or black plastic bags but label them clearly if they are 'clothes' 'books' 'household goods' 'toys' etc. Please keep all items separate.
Foodstuffs are being accepted as long as they are non-perishable items. (Last year we had to throw out rotten vegetables, rancid meat and melted ice-cream treats - to name a few).
We would also ask you - at this point - NO KNICKERS OR UNDERPANTS PLEASE. In the past we have been disgusted what some of you have donated. The stained knickers and skid marks on underpants are just NOT ACCEPTABLE. Some of you hadn't even bothered to WASH them.
Also, we would like to let you know, BEFORE the Jumble Sale, that we will NOT be setting goods out on long tables in the school Hall, as we have done in the past.
Items will be 'behind' the tables, on display, and you will have to ask the teachers for the items you wish to purchase.
This MAY be inconvenient BUT - in the past - some parents have arrived with large 'bags' which they have held close to tables - and when teachers were distracted by other parents - parents with big bags just scooped stuff of the tables into their bags without paying. This IS a crime.
We do believe some parents were working 'together'.
This will not happen in the future. So you thieving buggers who've been doing it in the past....forget it! We've got your number.
At this point I would like to thank you, in anticpation, for your donations towards the children's PE equipment.
Sincerely,
Mrs. I. M. Agooden - Headmistress, Newby Primary School, Isle of Wight.
